On the morning of August 7th, the 1st Guards Tank Brigade and 10th Mechanized Brigade moved out to take Maximova Station, Southeast of Bogodukhov. Advancing over secondary roads, the advance guard of the 1st Guards Tank Brigade ran smack into the lead elements of the SS Panzer Division which was feeling its way north from Olshany. A classic meeting engagement ensued as the 10th Mechanized Brigade struck one German column, while the 1st Guards Tank Brigade fought the other. The Germans, however, soon gained the upper hand and it became a battle for survival for the 1st Guards Tank Brigade.
Objectives: Break through the enemy forces without letting them advance northwards.
